The Perth Mint is pleased to present a vast new range of products ………

2014 Mother’s Love Half Ounce Silver:

perth_bear2The fourth release in the five coin Mother’s Love series features a reverse design of a mother brown bear and her cub; Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse.  The 1/2 ounce coin is being issued as a proof and struck on 99.9% pure silver planchets. Carrying a face value of fifty cents, this colorized commemorative coin is legal tender of the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu. The Perth Mint has set an issue limit of 4,500 examples and a maximum mintage of 6,000 pieces. Ing Ing Jong is the coin’s designer. The 2014 Mother’s Love Brown Bear coin has an issue price of AUS$63.50 and will be released on August 4.

2014 Land Down Under Silver and Gold:

perth3Also on August 4, the Perth Mint will release the third 1oz silver and 1/4oz gold designs in the 2014 The Land Down Under series, featuring the Australian Stockman. In the early 19th century, the discovery of gold led to the gradual clearing of much of regional Australia for farming.  The sheer enormity of these new rural properties, and the need to transport livestock long distances required a man on horseback, and so the stockman became an integral part of farming and station life.

The colorized 1 ounce silver coin is struck on 99.9% pure silver planchets and features a colorized vignette in the shape of the continent of Australia. A stockman on horseback looks over a heard of sheep as the sun sets in the distance. The 1/4oz gold coin features a stockman riding a horse at full gallop, his left hand holding an outstretched whip. The silver coin has a maximum mintage of 5,000 pieces; the gold: 1,000. Both coins come in the Perth Mint’s innovating and attractive Australian-shaped display cases. Both coins in this issue were designed by Ing Ing Jong.

Centenary of Australian Aviation and Submarines:

perthcoverOn 1 March 1914 Bristol Military Biplane CFS-3 took the first military flight, at the Army flying field, Point Cook, Victoria. Australia subsequently became the only British dominion to establish a flying corps, the Australian Flying Corps (AFC) for service during World War I.

Australia’s first submarines, British-built E-class vessels known as AE1 and AE2, commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy in February 1914, arrived in Sydney on 24 May. On 14 September 1914, AE1 was tragically lost with all crew during the occupation of Rabaul in German New Guinea. AE2 went on to support British-led operations off the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey and on 25 April 1915 was the first British submarine to penetrate the Dardanelles. On 30 April, after being damaged by a Turkish gunboat, AE2 was scuttled by her crew, all of whom were captured.

The Perth Mint and Australia Post will commemorate the Centenary of Military Aviation and Submarines with a stunning Stamp and Coin Cover.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coins are housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing each coin’s reverse and obverse designs.

The reverse of the Aviation coin features a representation of a Bristol aeroplane propeller with a military Boxkite flying under the propeller blade and an F/A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft soaring above it. The inscription 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF AUSTRALIAN MILITARY AVIATION, the dates 1914 – 2014, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also included in the design.

The reverse of the Submarine coin features a representation of a submarine rising from the depths of the ocean, set against an ominous cloudy sky. The inscription CENTENARY OF AUSTRALIAN SUBMARINES, the dates 1914 – 2014, and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also included in the design.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2014 year-date are shown on both coin’s obverse.

Issue price for the Stamp and Coin Cover is AU$24.95.
