Australian Premier Unveils Perth Mint’s ANZAC Spirit Coin Series

ANZAC Spirit Coin Series Released by Perth Mint…

The Premier of Western Australia, the Honourable Colin Barnett MLA visited the Western Australian War Memorial today to pay tribute to our Nation’s servicemen and women by unveiling The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series crafted by The Perth Mint.

Issued 100 years after Britain declared war on Germany on 4 August 1914, the limited edition collectables, which will be released across the next five years, will tell the remarkable story of Australia’s involvement in the Great War.

anzaccoin1The Premier outlined the significant events which took place throughout the country after the momentous announcement, and highlighted the importance of issuing a commemorative program in remembrance of these milestones in the Australia’s history.

“I would like to acknowledge The Perth Mint and its contribution to the community as it honours the sacrifice and selflessness of our military, whose camaraderie and spirit was forged with the original ANZACs,” he said.

The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series commences with the ‘Declaration of War’ silver coin and ‘To Our Last Man’ gold release. These individual offerings are complemented by the ‘Answering of the Call’, ‘Farewell to the Family’ and ‘Australia’s First Action’ silver issues, which combine to form a premium three-coin set.

Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie, said that the Mint always receives a tremendous response to its military-themed coins.

“The positive feedback for these special tributes is a firm reflection of the pride Australian’s have in the men and women of their Defence Force,” Mr Currie said.

“Today, we continue our commitment to honour the ANZACs – from the first Australian and New Zealand soldiers who came together at Gallipoli, to all the men and women who continue to serve our two countries,” he added.

Offered with varied mintage limits, the 1oz and 1/2oz pure silver and 1/4oz gold coins, give customers the opportunity to build a magnificent collection over time.

To develop this program, The Perth Mint worked closely with the Australian War Memorial, the Department of Defence, and the Returned and Services League of Australia.

The 2014-dated ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Declaration of War 1oz silver coin is priced at $99.00 and the To Our Last Man 1/4oz gold coin will retail at $695.00. This year’s inaugural 1/2oz silver Three-Coin Set is offered at $189.00.

Collectors can secure these commemoratives from The Perth Mint at 310 Hay Street in East Perth, by telephoning toll free 1800 098 817 or by visiting www.perthmint.com.au/anzac.
