Numismatist Ray Herz offers this fascinating look at the career of medallic sculptor Elizabeth Jones. Jones was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to replace outgoing Chief Engraver of the United States Mint Frank Gasparro. Jones famously designed the 1982 Washington commemorative half dollar, and numerous other U.S. commemorative coins. She was the last Chief Engraver of the United States appointed directly by the President of the United States.
