The Perth Mint – August 2011 Product Releases

The Perth Mint

This year’s beautiful Celebrate Australia releases portray stunning Australian landscapes and marine environments inscribed on the World Heritage List. Struck in aluminium bronze these lovely coins make a wonderful memento or gift. They are available as individual coins or as a five-coin collection.

The characters from such classic tales as Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and Dracula, have been brought to life in this fabulous new coin set. The original designs have captured all the colour and atmosphere of these famous stories. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.

The second release in the charming Ships That Changed The World series features the Golden Hind, best known for its circumnavigation of the globe between 1577 and 1580, captained by Sir Francis Drake. Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as Tuvalu legal tender.

The outstanding 2011 Platypus Dreaming coins are struck by The Perth Mint on a mint-to-order basis. Available in 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, and 10g and 2.5g of 99.99% pure gold, each coin displays an original, contemporary design created by Darryl Bellotti, a Western Australian Indigenous artist.

The Perth Mint, in conjunction with Australia Post, is thrilled to present the second coin in the adorable Bush Babies Stamp & Coin Cover series. The release depicts a cute dingo on a $1 coin, which is affixed to the envelope and includes an official Australia Post $1.60 stamp.

These and other exciting new products make August another great month of releases from The Perth Mint.
