Don Everhart joined the United States Mint as a sculptor-engraver in January 2004.

Everhart graduated from Kutztown State University in 1972 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. In 1973, Everhart was hired as a designer at the Franklin Mint. Two years later, he was elevated to the position of staff sculptor, a position he held until March 1980.

From 1980 to 2004, Everhart worked in a freelance capacity, taking a number of commissions from both private enterprises and international mints.

Throughout his career, Everhart has given back to the artistic community. From 1993-1994, he served as the President of the American Medallic Sculpture Association. In addition, his work earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) Sculptor of the Year award in 1994. Everhart also had the honor of designing President Bill Clinton’s second inaugural medal in 1997.

Since joining the U.S. Mint in 2004, Everhart has seen dozens of his designs executed as United States coins.
