COINS in UHD: The 10 Best CoinWeek Videos of 2016

It’s hard to believe that the end is upon us… the end of 2016, that is. With the better part of the calendar year behind us, the editors of CoinWeek felt that it was time to take a look back at a banner year for CoinWeek’s video team. In 2016, CoinWeek fully committed itself to producing high quality 4K videos – making ours the first publication in the industry to do so. Beyond pixels, this year has seen a number of fantastic new multi-media series blossom into fan favorites; series like CoinWeek IQ and our award-winning CoinWeek Podcast. We will have more installments of these two series before the year comes to a close.

Also, if you haven’t done so already, please subscribe to our YouTube channel. As a subscriber, you’ll be notified whenever CoinWeek uploads a new video. That way, you won’t miss a single numismatic moment. We really appreciate your likes and comments – your feedback helps shape the future of our content.

#10. Best Coin Unboxing Video: Niue 2016 Star Wars: Darth Vader 1 Ounce Silver Coin

Back to the Future was cool in 1985. Still kind of cool in 1989. Not so much in 1990. But home video in the DVD and BluRay generations made catalog films cool again, and now a whole new audience can experience the adventures of Doc Brown and Marty McFly in the good doctor’s DeLorean time machine. For this Unboxing video, CoinWeek got its hands on a deluxe one-ounce silver collectible coin product that came packaged in a model of the car. The car lights up and houses the coin under its hood – proving the old maxim with cars, that it’s what’s under the hood that counts.

You’ll have to watch and find out.

#7. Best Modern Coin Video: CoinWeek IQ: Collectors Should be Aware of Problem MS70 American Silver Eagles

American Silver Eagles have become one of the most popularly collected coins in the industry. Third-party certification and the marketing that goes along with it has played a big role in elevating the series’ profile in the hobby. Unfortunately, many collectors do not realize that these beautiful one-ounce silver coins have a built-in bug that could wipe out all of the collector premium. That problem is called “milk spots”. In this CoinWeek IQ video, QA Check’s James Sego sits with us to discuss the issue.
