With the approval of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Perth Mint has released Australia’s official commemorative coins to mark the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

Struck from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure gold and 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, each tribute features a portrait of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge cradling and gazing at their newborn baby, with HRH Prince George by their side.

This regal image is encircled by a sculpted ribbon tied in a bow. The inscription CELEBRATING THE BIRTH OF THE ROYAL BABY and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark also feature as part of this original design.

Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on 2 May 2015 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in London weighing 3.7 kilograms. She is the second child of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and a great granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II.

Born fourth in line to the throne after the Duke of Cambridge, her grandfather Charles, the Prince of Wales, and her older sibling, His Royal Highness Prince George, Princess Charlotte was bestowed the title of Her Royal Highness by the reigning Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As a former branch of the Royal Mint, we are proud of our British heritage and find it only fitting to celebrate the birth of the newest member of the Royal Family with legal tender coinage,” said Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie.

Following the worldwide success of our 2013 HRH Prince George collectables, it is a huge honour to once again issue Buckingham Palace approved coins, marking yet another huge milestone in the history of the Monarchy,” he added.

Issued as Australian legal tender, the obverse of each coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year date, and the monetary denomination.

Capturing the essence of this precious moment, only 1,000 gold and 5,000 silver HRH Princess Charlotte coins have been issued for sale worldwide.

Each of the classically styled commemoratives are individually presented in a prestigious gift box within a themed shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The HRH Princess Charlotte 2015 1/4oz gold coin is priced at $695.00, while the 1oz silver commemorative coin is priced as $99.00.

Orders can be placed by telephoning The Perth Mint toll free at 1800 098 817 (Australia), +61 8 9421 7218 (International), or by visiting www.perthmint.com.au. Collectors can also purchase the commemoratives from leading coin dealers and Australia Post outlets.
