By Industry Council for Tangible Assets….
Industry Council for Tangible Assets (ICTA) treasurer and Liberty Coin Service owner emeritus and communications officer Patrick A. Heller was honored during the Industry Council for Tangible Assets membership / board of directors meeting in Tampa, Florida, on January 6 as the recipient of the inaugural Diane Piret Memorial Outstanding Service Award.

Said Liberty Coin Service owner and general manager Tom Coulson:

Pat has served ICTA as treasurer and as a member of the board of directors since 2002. His groundbreaking research led the Michigan state government to adopt a sales-and-use tax exemption on rare coins and precious metals in retail sales in 1999. This research, and subsequent documentation that the Michigan Treasury total tax collections increased as a result of this exemption, have since been used in at least seven states to establish or expand similar exemptions. Pat’s efforts have benefitted coin collectors, dealers, and state treasuries across the country. He has been an asset to this company and to the greater Lansing community.”

The Industry Council for Tangible Assets, founded in in the early 1980s, is the rare-coin and precious-metals dealers’ national trade association. The newly established Diane Piret Memorial Outstanding Service Award commemorates the 25-year ICTA career of the organization’s industry affairs director, who died in 2015.

Heller has received numerous local and national awards over his career, including the 2012 Harry Forman National Coin Dealer of the Year Award from the American Numismatic Association (ANA).
