Will The PNG Hurt The ANA Show?

The PNG is still in my sights because they claim to be the leading dealer organization with high morals that does nothing for anyone but themselves. They tend to act like anyone not in the club is pond scum. This enrages me to no end since I certainly do not need them and know plenty of other decent dealers who don’t either. No one can name a damn thing the PNG has done in the fight against coin doctors to make even a single one stop. This is a group that hides from the word “reactive” while claiming they can’t be “proactive” when it comes to this deadliest sin of all in our hobby-coin doctoring. Remember, this group has done NOTHING but brush the issue aside. Until they step up and really police their members and “out” the known coin doctors in their group, I will be as vocal about them as I can be.

HOW THE PNG IS TRYING TO RUIN THE ANA SHOW

First, I want to make a few things clear:

Not all PNG members are coin doctors or are bad.

Larry Shepard is doing an incredible job of bringing the ANA into the real world.

The ANA show is the biggest “baddest” MUST ATTEND show of the year. We FULLY support this show financially and with amazing displays.

So how did the PNG ruin the show? By forcing the ANA to adopt their pathetic PRE Show. Prior to this, every ANA always had a privately run pre show. What the greedy PNG failed to see was that only a certain group of “crack out” dealers attended them and they really did not hurt the entire ANA show for everyone else.

If many PNG members do the PRE show what shape do think they will be in on the Friday or Saturday of the regular ANA show (over a full week away) when most people can just get there? Do you think they will have a nice selection of coins for you? Do you think they will at least wave at you when you they are leaving early? They have such pompous management attitude at PNG days NON PNG dealers can not even sit in a corner and look at each others coins (vest pocket). These PNG run events of the past few years have ALL been losers and offered little to the public. Last, and worst of all, how do you know who you are really dealing with (someone dressed up does not change their personality)?

At first I did not want to do the show. But the mere fact possibly my competitors will be there and that I could possibly find coins forced me to sign up. One of my good friends who is a PNG member said about his situation “I do not want to do it, but I have to try it”. I had no choice other than to do something hypocritical (plus I am bad creature of habit). I hope I was wrong and that the number of dealers who signed up is far more than the pathetic Houston PNG exhibition where maybe 5 dealers had tables every December. But then the PNG just does care about NON PNG folk, so why should a lot sign up? I can’t get over how the PNG felt the need to drag a great show out to 10+ days. I wish the ANA had not allowed for this to happen. I seriously fear for the ANA show could deteriorate by this move.

My warning to collectors, if you want to see the ANA show at its peak, be there opening day. I have never ever seen nor heard of any major dealer working full steam for 10 full days at a show. You do NOT want to attend towards the end, the show could be spent of its energy.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT VALUE THERE IS BY HAVING THE PNG DO THIS PRE SHOW?

I AM STILL WAITING TO DONATE $1,000.00 FOR SUSPENSION OF A PNG DEALER FOR COIN DOCTORING.
