New collector coin website now online

The Central Bank of Ireland is delighted to announce that the new-and-improved collectorcoins.ie is now live. The new website will provide for an efficient and reliable service for the purchase of collector coins and will purchase replace the existing phone service.

The Sir Charles Algernon Parsons €15 silver proof coin will be available to order online from 1st September 2017. The cost of the coin is €60.
It is the third coin in the “Irish Science and Inventions” series and commemorates the life and works of Sir Charles Algernon Parsons, engineer.
The design by Antonella Napolione features a portrait of the engineer with the model of His EARLY steam turbine engine, encircled by the inscription and a representation of turbine BLADES. This proof coin comes in a presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity. The diameter of the silver commemorative is 38.61mm and the coin weighs 28.28g. It is struck in .925 Sterling Silver and is strictly limited to 6,000 pieces.
