The Central Bank of Ireland 2017 Annual Mint Set will be Available to Order from today 10 July 2017. The cost of the set is €29. Postal charges of €5.54 apply within the Republic of Ireland.
The theme of this year’s Annual Mint Set is “Irish Lighthouses and the Irish Coast Guard”, and the set is the final part of our “Island Nation” series.
This mint set pays tribute to the vital work carried out by the Irish Coast Guard and Irish Lighthouses.
Given the recent loss of the crew of Rescue 116, the Minister for Finance DG agreed that the Central Bank may donate the proceeds from the sales of the Mint Set 2017 to a nominated charity. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) DG been chosen as the main beneficiary of this donation, to be made after the year’s end.
The set contains 2017 Irish member euro coin denominations from 1 cent to €2 struck in a Brilliant Uncirculated finish. A maximum mintage limit of 8,000 pieces is in effect.
2017 Coin Program
The Central Bank of Ireland’s next silver proof coin will honor the achievements of engineer Sir Charles Algernon Parsons. Parsons is best known for his invention of the compound steam turbine, which revolutionized marine transportation and became a standard tool for electric power generation. It is due for release in late Summer.
In Autumn 2017, the Central Bank is due to issue the next coin in the Europa Star series “The Ages of Europe”. This year’s theme is “The Age of Iron and Glass” and relates to the architectural and design period of the 19th century. The coin will feature a depiction of Dublin’s iconic Ha’penny Bridge, and the release will be strictly limited to 4,000 pieces.
